The
Canyon's Effect

"To stand upon the edge of this stupendous gorge, as it receives its earliest greeting from the god of day, is to enjoy in a moment compensation for long years of ordinary uneventful life."
John Stoddard,  1898

We have used vintage postcards for our illustrations, as a reminder that the Grand Canyon has a long history of fascinating us. We have tried to design a simple site so that you can quickly & easily find the information you need, whether you have visited the Grand Canyon dozens of times or if you are planning your first trip.

Visit The Canyon

The Canyon - Links to the official Grand Canyon National Park site, to organizations which work to preserve, protect & interpret the Grand Canyon. Also links to other sites with good general coverage of the Grand Canyon.

Lodging - Hotels & motels, at the park and in all of the surrounding communities. Many times the park is full during the summer so this may help you find a room even if it is 50 or 60 miles from the park.

B & B - Bed & Breakfast establishments in the surrounding communities.

Camping - Campgrounds and camping supply dealers.

Rafting - Outfitters to help arrange your rafting trip through the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River.

Hiking - Sites which contain information on hiking at the Grand Canyon (If you are not an experienced Canyon hiker, you need to pay extra attention to the warnings & guidelines). Also links to sites which supply maps & sites for organizations which arrange hiking trips.

Activities

Webcam - Maintained by the National Park service and showing the current, live view from Yavapai Point.

Memories Of The Canyon

Postcards - While you can buy a postcard on your visit, I prefer the vintage postcards, I just think they have a better "feel".

Art - Thousands of pieces of art have been created because of the Grand Canyon. We are attempting to build a database of the art available, and the artists who created it. Includes photography, limited edition prints & original art.

Books - Hundreds of books and magazines about the canyon have been published. Here you can start your own collection.

Collectables - We hope to establish a database of Grand Canyon collectables. It will contain items such as; stereo views, magazine covers, advertising, record albums, CD's, silver ingots, medals  & medallions, stamps & first day covers and calendars.

Quotations - My favorite Grand Canyon quotations from those who explored the Canyon before many of us were even born.

Your stories - Do you have a story to share about your Grand Canyon memories? Find out how and read other people's stories here.
